This Privacy Policy explains how Anestha ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the Anestha mobile application, websites, and related services (the "Service"). Anestha is a dental anaesthesia training simulator for students, faculty, and dental professionals. Contact for all privacy matters: support@anestha.training.

In short: we collect your name, email, institution, and course/year for internal purposes only — we never sell your personal information and never share it with third parties for their own purposes. If your access is provided by a university or dental school, your training usage data may be visible to your instructors and professors.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for internal purposes only:

to create and manage your account and, where applicable, your institutional seat;
to operate the simulator and record your training progress and results;
to manage subscriptions and institutional licences;
to provide support and respond to your requests;
to maintain security, prevent fraud and account sharing;
to analyse aggregated, de-identified usage in order to improve the Service and its educational content;
to send service-related communications (e.g., account, billing, or important safety and content updates).

We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising, and we do not send marketing communications without your consent.

3. Visibility to Instructors and Institutions

If your access is provided through a university or dental school seat licence, your training usage data — such as attempts, scores, progress, and time spent — may be collected and made visible to the instructors and professors of your institution for legitimate educational purposes (monitoring progress, grading practice activities, and providing guidance). Your institution is responsible for how its staff uses that information under its own academic and privacy rules. Individual subscribers' data is not visible to any institution.

4. Sharing of Information

We never sell your personal information, and we never share it with third parties for their own use. Your information is disclosed only:

To your institution's instructors/professors, as described in Section 3, when your access comes from an institutional licence;
To service providers that process data strictly on our behalf and under our instructions to run the Service (e.g., cloud hosting, crash reporting and analytics infrastructure such as Unity services, and the app stores for billing) — they may not use your data for anything else;
When required by law, to comply with a legal obligation, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users or the public;
In a business transfer (merger, acquisition, or asset sale), in which case this Policy continues to apply to your data.

5. Data Retention

Account and training data are kept while your account is active.
Institutional training records are kept for the duration defined by the institutional agreement, then deleted or anonymised.
If you delete your account or request erasure, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law (e.g., billing records).
Aggregated, de-identified data that cannot identify you may be retained for statistics and product improvement.

6. Security

We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk — including encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege access for staff — to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration, or loss. No system is completely secure; if a breach affecting your personal data occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, the GDPR, and the LGPD), you may have the right to:

access a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
request deletion of your account and personal data;
object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
receive your data in a portable format;
complain to your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@anestha.training. We respond within the timeframes required by applicable law. If your access is managed by your institution, we may coordinate with the institution to fulfil your request.

8. Age Requirement

The Service is intended for users aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a person under 18 has provided personal information, we will delete it. If you believe this has happened, contact support@anestha.training.

9. International Transfers

Your information may be processed on servers located outside your country. Where that happens, we use safeguards required by applicable law (such as contractual protections with our service providers) so that your data receives an equivalent level of protection.

10. Our Website

Our website (anestha.training) is informational and does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Standard technical logs (such as IP address and requested pages) may be kept briefly by our hosting provider for security purposes.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or on our website before they take effect, and the "Last updated" date above will be revised.
